6.8 Earthquake Rocks Northern, Eastern India,Today 18-sept Sikkim

New Delhi, Sept 18: Today earth An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 shook large parts of northern and eastern India with its epicenter located a few kilometres from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.

People rushed out of their homes in Lucknow, Patna, Delhi and National capital region, as tremors were felt in the evening.

Huge blast at Japan nuclear power plant- 3-12-2011

A massive explosion has struck a Japanese nuclear power plant after Friday’s devastating earthquake.

A huge pall of smoke was seen coming from the plant at Fukushima and several workers were injured.

Japanese officials fear a meltdown at one of the plant’s reactors after radioactive material was detected outside it.

A huge relief operation is under way after the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami, which killed more than 600.

Hundreds more people are missing and it is feared about 1,300 may have died.

The offshore earthquake triggered a tsunami which wreaked havoc on Japan’s north-east coast, sweeping far inland…

Cars, ships and buildings were swept away by a wall of water after the 8.9-magnitude quake, which struck about 400km (250 miles) north-east of Tokyo. A state of emergency has been declared at a nuclear power plant but officials said there were no radiation leaks.
